Doctor Who, 30/4.5 - The Poison Sky

Very, very short thoughts on the episode after the cut:

- Donna's Mum to the rescue: if there is one thing these Noble women are it's being practical. Although her nagging is so close to real life, I constantly feel like we're related. There is such a thing as too much verisimilitude.

- Grampa lives! I was never in doubt about that, and really didn't worry at all.

- Ross, in turn, dies heroically. Sniff. Please tell me he has an identical cousin, or a Steel World double working for Torchwood?

- Loved Donna's stint on the Sontaran battleship in general, and particularly her activating the door mechanism via Vulcan salute.

- Doctor (wearing a gas mask): Are you my Mummy?
Colonel Mace: I wish you could concentrate!

- Verily, the Sontarans are a bit one-note. Certainly not the adversaries I would have chosen for a two-parter. That said, I squeed with glee that they were taken out not by a "worthy" foe like the Doctor, but by their own shrimpy human accomplice. Way to go, Luke, annoying little "teenage" genius!

- Valiant cameo and mention of the Brigadier - the other way round it would have been even better, but I can settle for this one, too.

- Just say "No": even though Clone!Martha's job wasn't particularly exciting, she did have some nice moments bonding with, er, herself in the end. However, I do hope her mumblings about life being so fleeting wasn't meant to spell doom for Real!Martha. There won't be any spellings of doom for Real!Martha, yes, show?

- Love in UNIT: the dating controversy continues.

- Rose? Is that you, Rose? You want to say something, Sweetie?

- And the TARDIS takes a detour yet again. This can only mean trouble.

NEXT WEEK: don't you think Georgia Moffet looks a lot like Sophia Myles? Hmm, suddenly I wonder about Ten and Madame de Pompadour...
