1. I love puzzle adventure games. I've played them since I was around eleven, back at the time when text adventures were just getting replaced by graphic&text adventures, and the commands you had to type in in order to solve the puzzles pretty much formed the basis of my earliest English vocabulary. Of course, it largely consisted of "use rock on poisonous vine" or "drink radioactive pool water," but it was a start. Even though I later discovered Jump'N'Runs Action Adventures, and even got a certain fondness for strategic/role playing hybrids like Heroes of Might and Magic, the Puzzles have always remained my foremost gaming entertainment, probably because they more closely resemble interactive novels or films. I'm by no means a purist, either - I like funny, zany games like Maniac Mansion or Sam and Max as much as more atmospheric ones like Gabriel Knight, Broken Sword or Black Mirror. The most ironic thing is certainly that I'm quite lousy at solving the puzzles...
2. I've always lived and breathed books; bizarrely enough, I'm nonetheless a really bad English major. Not that I dislike the canons and alternative canons I've managed to get my hands on over time - I'm probably the only literature student who has read and actually enjoyed The Scarlet Letter - but I really couldn't care less about analyzing them.
3. I own a manga series about a historical Japanese character, because I love the art so much - it's not something you commonly see in the works mostly read in the US or Europe. The manga are in Japanese, and I only have a vague idea what they're about - not that I care much, since they are really amazingly beautiful. (See a few examples here)
4. I'm a published illustrator. They're hardly good illustrations, and they're decorating a self-published roleplaying guide created by friends, but they're mine and I'm kind of weirdly proud of them. Especially since drawing humanoid cat creatures and their dinosaur-like mounts is not as easy as it sounds...
5. Despite my preference to stay at the outskirts of fandom, I've actually been doing this for quite a long time - my first internet fan experience was writing reviews for Profiler in 1997. I even almost wrote fanfiction!
6. I've started to knit around two years ago, and I'm getting quite good at it. Unfortunately, glaciers move fast compared to me, which is why I almost never get anything finished.
7. I'm addicted to most kinds of licorice. Yes, even the salty ones. And the sweet ones. I know no shame.
