Lost 5.06: 316
Feb. 19th, 2009 09:46 amVery briefly.
Oh dear, a whole episode about Jackgoing to see the wizard preparing to board a flight. I appreciate that they set up a few mysteries on the way, but couldn't they have filled up the rest with more content? Sine we didn't get much of that, though, here my thoughts on the riddles we've been given:
- Aaron: is obviously with his grandma. If he's going to stay there is another matter.
- How Ben got beaten up: I guess he probably did try to kill Penny, but since I also think that Widmore gave Desmond the church address to essentially set up a trap, he likely mostly got a bloody nose and a trip into the water for his trouble. That would also mean that Widmore has Desmond and therefore knows which time window he has to use to get to the island. Awesome?
- I don't think Sayid's arrest is what it looks like, and not just because that's Zulheika Robinson of Rome fame who substitutes for the Marshall.
- I still don't believe Locke really killed himself, but I guess we'll see that next week?
misc stuff:
- How can you read? - My mother taught me to. - It's compulsive with Ben, isn't it?
- Alas I've never read Ulysses, so I'm going out on a limb here and say that this episode had too little of the Lostian version of that particular character. (Although I was impressed how well he managed not getting whacked by that pendulum)
- Said Taghmaoui's character (whose name might just make you roll your eyes) is a) just a friendly passenger, b) another Other or c) exactly what his name suggests.
- the flash on the plane was very The Last Battle, wasn't it? Does that mean against all reason that all those passengers whose seats Hurley couldn't buy (not to mention the flight attendants) didn't die a senseless death on a remote tropical island? And most importantly, does that make Desmond Susan?
- The most surprising element: Jeff Fahey actually shaved. I feel thrown back to my youth.
- Does Jin have a contractual option on the last scene now?
Next week: The Life and Times of Jeremy Bentham
