selenak, I believe.
1. Your main fandom of the year?
I think that's evenly divided between True Blood and Lost. Ironically (or maybe predictably), I plan to continue both shows without participating in their respective fandoms next year.
2. Your favorite film watched this year?
Star Trek XI, hands down. Granted, I watched about four, so the choice wasn't that hard.
3. Your favorite book read this year?
Another tie between the Attolia books by Megan Whalen Turner (probably the best fantasy I've read in recent years) and Here Lies Arthur by Philip Reeve (definitely the best made-up history novel I've read in recent years).
4. Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
I'd give a shout to Bear McCreary and both the BSG and Sarah Connor Chronicles soundtracks.
5. Your favorite TV show of the year?
It would have been True Blood, if they had made Dallas the main storyline instead of Bon Temps; thus it is Sarah Connor Chronicles, which I miss fiercely.
6. Your favorite LJ community of the year?
Let me ponder on that.
7. Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
Most surprisingly, Southland. I used to be quite the fan of narrative cop shows in the 90s, and this one emulates shows like NYPD Blue in the best possible way, concentrating more on atmosphere, character development and storytelling than cases ripped from the headlines.
8. Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
I learned anew that fandom experiences replicate themselves - in these particular cases, Lost fandom's shipper intrigues reminded me of those in Veronica Mars (and by proxy Buffy), while True Blood fandom patiently reenacted everything the LOTR fandom ever had to say about adaptations. Maybe it is time to pick a new tune.
Where actual shows are concerned, BSG has been a pretty thorough disappointment all through Season 4, with few exceptions, but the finale made me initially wonder why I had bothered with the show on the whole.
9. Your TV boyfriend of the year?
In a completely nonsexual way, I nominate Officer John Cooper of Southland. For the more well-known gents, there is usually a version of Charles Bingley whom I love dearly, this time in Lost in Austen.
10. Your TV girlfriend of the year?
Olivia Dunham of Fringe. Also, Joan Holloway, of Mad Men.
11. Your biggest squee moment of the year?
I really liked Eric's flashback in True Blood, especially the point when it went from hilariously cheesy to downright sublime.
12. The most missed of your old fandoms?
I don't know if it counts yet, but I really wish Sarah Connor Chronicles had been able to continue.
13. The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
I'll be trying out The Wire shortly.
14. Your biggest fan anticipations for the New Year?
Not TV related, but the fourth Attolia book (A Conspiracy of Kings) is due out in March I believe!
