Drive-By Watch: Being Human

Being Human, one in a series of what I presume are meant to be youthful and edgy test pilots issued by the BBC, deals with the trials and tribulations of three flatmates who just try to blend in and get by in an ordinary way. They are hampered in this by their less than ordinary afflictions - George is a werewolf, Mitchell is a vampire and Annie is a ghost, and as you may imagine, this causes shenanigans. I (finally) watched this last night and it is kind of adorable, in an amateur theatre sort of way. Seriously, some of the acting choices were things I have done in Student Theatre - my character is aloof and mysterious, oh, I'll just wave my hands like *that* - but the main characters are cute, even Mitchell, the Hungry Britpopper Vampire Guy. When he is not hanging out with his painfully cliched posse of world-domination bend vampires that is - I can't begin to describe how much those scenes reminded me of some of my worst Live Roleplaying sessions. Could they at least have someone who doesn't wear black leather and either smirks evilly or looks forlorn in their century old angst? Yawn.
But it has Alonzo from the last Doctor Who Special, and the ghost girl is very sweet, so when it goes to series, I might give it a shot.
