Anticipating BSG: Who is that final cylon?

5. Hot Dog
The best way to get by unnoticed as a cylon is not being blonde and hot or bald and cranky, it's being the goofy guy who looks vaguely like the admiral and sneakily made it to being the third most senior viper pilot in the fleet. Not that that means much considering their turnout rate.

4. Jane Cally*/Cally Henderson-Tyrol
Because the only thing that is funnier than a cylon tortured and maimed by other cylons is a cylon who murders her cylon crush's cylon girlfriend and then marries his violent cylon self after he breaks her jaw.

3. Billy Keikeya
Don't tell me there is any way one of Roslin's assistants wasn't a cylon. Besides, who wouldn't want Billy to be back?

2. Lee's mother
Remember: Adama is a cylon. Leoben said so.

1. Garrett Dillahunt
We know he can play Terminators, murderous psychopaths and Jesus, he would totally ace a cylon.

ROFL! This really cheered me up after a long day spent searching for the living room floor.

I haven't paid any attention to spoilers in a long while, but I figure the final Cylon has to be someone earthshaking like Adama or Laura. A surprise would be nice though.

I have to be honest - I hated that they made Tigh one of the finale five, and I would be really, really displeased with Adama for the same reasons. These men have fought in the first cylon war! I'm aware that the finale five are likely a bit different than the seven others, but I think saying that they've been around when cylons were still wearing a metal hide stretches it a bit.

Laura would bug me on a different level, because I would like one of the regular female characters to actually be human and not a cylon or whatever Kara is. Let Roslin be badass and normal.

My guess is that it is really someone out of left field like Adama's first wife, or someone like Gaeta or Dee.

I was also upset when Tigh was made a Cylon, more because it diminished the character for me. After all Saul's been through, including Ellen's heart-breaking death scene, they decided to make him a Cylon?

Adama would be a hard one to explain, given that he has Lee. I have mixed feelings about Laura. On the one hand, she fits all the criteria. No family, her romantic relationship with Adar, and the fact that she was conveniently off world when the Cylons attacked make her a prime candidate. On the other hand, I would feel cheated like I was in Epiphanies. I'd rather see her die as a kickass human then turn out to be the eeevil mastermind. Well, the Cylons are a lot more complicated than that but you get my point.

Btw, it's rather nice to talk BSG with someone who isn't involved in the wankass fandom.

Agree on Tigh, pretty much. As for Roslin, yes. I just hate the idea of her being a cylon. I'd rather have anyone else. (Well, except for Baltar. He can't be a cylon, it would render his whole storyline completely pointless. Same for Helo.)

Lee(and Zak) being a sign that Adama likely isn't a cylon is a good point, although Tyrol has a son as well, so being able to have offspring isn't necessarily a sure sign for humanity.

Hee. I haven't been involved in BSG fandom since the middle of Season 2, and although I found it less bizarre than some of the other fandoms I've encountered I can't really say I miss it. Mostly I find it enough to be on the Heroes periphery and keep an eye on DW.

True, but I don't see how a half-Cylon Lee would fit into the show's mythology. I have a theory that Hera and Tyrol's son will be the Adam and Eve of a new human/Cylon race. It's all crazy speculation though.

Yeah, the BSG fandom tends to be a bit fanatical about their given ship or character. I used to hang out with the Laura crowd and boy I don't miss it. I'm happy in my new position as archivist and silent observer.

One of the most popular suspects was always Gaeta, and given a) the love/hate obsession he has with Baltar and b) he, like Tigh and Anders, was a hero of the resistence, I could see the show going that way.

Or: Dee. Would also verify Leoben's "Adama is a cylon" by virtue of her married name, and would give the actress something to do other than getting the thankless part in a dull geometric formation. Plus like Gaeta, she has been with the Galactica from the start.

I'd definitely think that Dee and Gaeta are serious contenders - as opposed to the ones I list here. Except for Dillahunt, maybe. :)

If it comes down to Dee or Gaeta, I'd actually prefer it to be Gaeta for his heroism in the occupation, as you say. On the other hand, really, they are running out of heroic, important humans. Like I said to weirdofromafar, this is one of the major qualms I have with Roslin as the final cylon.

Poor Dee really got the short straw in regard to possible roles. I'm not even sure what her current job is, she's been Mrs. Lee Adama for so long. *insert long rant about bizarre romantic conventions on BSG here*
